Reflections: Navigating The New While Staying True
What’s Next
Finding my way through new places has taught me a lot about myself. Whether I am skiing down unfamiliar slopes or navigating the Hong Kong MTR on my own, I have learned to plan, trust myself, stay aware, and enjoy figuring things out as I go.
Growing up in diverse environments has made it easy for me to form friendships and feel comfortable connecting with people from different cultures. I brought this mindset with me to my boarding school experiences at Miss Porter’s, Choate, and Sevenoaks, where living and learning alongside new peers challenged me to be independent, collaborative, and open‑minded. I also learned that it is okay to bring my full self, my passions, and my personality into the room. These moments showed me that growth can be both challenging and fun, especially when I stay curious and true to who I am.
My Dreams for the Future
I dream of learning how the brain shapes who we are.
I am interested in pursuing Neuroscience because I am curious about how the brain supports memory, learning, navigation, and emotional well‑being.
I dream of using my natural curiosity and confidence to navigate complex challenges.
I have a strong ability to recall facts, faces, and past experiences, and I demonstrate confidence in navigating complex environments — whether connecting with new people and cultures, skiing independently on challenging slopes, or traveling across Hong Kong on the MTR from a young age.
I dream of bridging science and mental health to help others build resilience.
My experience in public speaking has strengthened my ability to communicate ideas clearly and connect with others when discussing complex topics. My love of science, combined with my commitment to mental health advocacy, reflects a desire to understand how biological processes shape resilience and behavior.
I dream of contributing to Neuroscience in a way that genuinely improves people's lives.
I hope to explore Neuroscience through rigorous study, collaborative research, and meaningful service, applying what I learn to support others. I am known for forming lasting friendships and working well with others, and I am drawn to Neuroscience, where I plan to contribute thoughtfully and help improve people's lives.
